Twin Oaks has been family owned and operated since 1975. Hal and Barbara Elman with Beverly and Bernie Hoffman founded Twin Oaks Day Camp first. Shortly afterwards, Barbara and Beverly launched the preschool. Now, after more than 40 years, Twin Oaks Country Day School continues to serve Nassau’s south shore. Today the school is led by Jenni Elman Davis, Barbara and Hal’s daughter. She has grown up on these grounds and has held every job imaginable! In addition to being a mom herself – of three daughters! – she holds a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education and has taught in the classroom for many years. Jenni runs both the business end and creative side of the school. She is truly the heart of Twin Oaks. Jenni and our school’s principal, Carin Stone, are known and respected by administrators and staff in the local school districts. They work tirelessly to ensure the caliber of the curriculum and that the demands of the educational system are met for each student. They work very closely with the parents and the school’s teachers to ensure each child’s success. Call us and schedule a tour. We are always happy to see you!

Nut Free Environment

We strive to maintain a “PEANUT/TREE NUT – FREE” policy throughout our school, which means we do not serve or offer any nuts or products that contain nuts or nut oil as an ingredient. This includes pistachios, almonds, pecans, and coconuts, amongst others. Twin Oaks does not allow any peanut or tree nut products on our grounds. Products that contain nuts, or are produced on machinery/facilities that also process food and/or candy which contains nuts, are also not offered or permitted. We are vigilant in all the food products we order and serve. We are also vigilant about what parents send in for their children’s lunches. We send home a list of foods that we feel are safe to bring in and be served. Our teachers are well trained to read labels and maintain our nut-free environment. We will not serve food products where peanuts or tree nuts are noted nor will we serve products made in a facility that also processes nuts (even if there are no nuts in the product itself). Additionally, we can accommodate other food-related allergies and specific dietary needs on a case by case basis. Twin Oaks can provide soy products, gluten-free products, kosher-style foods, and other food items to accommodate dietary restrictions. Please call the school for details about individual situations. You can rest assured that every precaution for your child’s safety is taken at Twin Oaks.
