FAQS.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What are your teachers' credentials?
Our teachers are required to be state certified and of course all of our staff have to be warm, loving and kind to children.

2. What is your visiting policy?
At Twin Oaks we welcome parent visiting. When a parent (especially a working one) has some time for a visit, we are happy to have them view their child in the classroom. All visitors must present a valid ID before entering a room.

3. Do you offer programs in addition to your regular classroom activities?
We have several specialists who add flavor to our outstanding curriculum. We offer Spanish, Music, Movement & Dance, Literature & Yoga given by talented people who enjoy working with our preschoolers.

4. Do the children take trips?
Except for our toddlers, all 3, 4 and 5 year olds take curriculum related trips throughout the school year. Some trips include the Children's Museum, Molloy College & the Bellmore Theater for shows, the Public Library, and Farms to name a few.

5. What kind of security do you have at Twin Oaks?
Our entrances are secured by magnetic gates and can only be released in the office by our personnel. Surveillance cameras are located at each entrance as well as other areas on the school grounds. Once children enter the property at arrival time, the gates are locked.

6. What kind of parent communication do you have?
Parent communication is the key to why Twin Oaks is so special. We have an Orientation day and a special Parent day for each age level. In addition we have weekly newsletters and numerous phone calls letting you know what is going on and how your precious child is doing. Each classroom is equipped with a phone for immediate contact.

7. What happens in the cold weather when a playground can’t be used?
Our facility has a huge indoor gymnasium/theater and is used all year long. Gym time helps children develop and use their large muscles while creating fair play and sportsmanship.

8. What happens if my child gets sick in school?
We have two nurses on staff who assess and determine if a child needs to go home. If both parents are at work, and there is a care giver at the house, with the parent's permission Twin Oaks will take your child home to the care giver. If there is no one at home, a parent or designated person is required to come and pick up the sick child.

9. If I send my twins to your school and want them separated, do you have enough classes at the same age level?
We have 3 or more classes of each age group from Toddlers to Threes and Pre K. Our one and only outstanding accredited Kindergarten offers children a unique and gifted experience in learning.

10. My husband and I want to send our child full day but needed extended hours. Are they available?
The formal academic part of our days is from 9:15 to 3:30. We have many classes at different sessions during those hours. Several of our teachers work the hours before and after school for those parents who need extended care.
We open at 7 AM and expect the last child to be picked up by 5:45 PM.
There are many school holidays and vacations that Twin Oaks is open with child care. Information regarding holiday child care and interim programs between school and camp are furnished upon request.
